11.1.13

Sam's story to me after he is wondering where the worker guy who came this morning (the plumber who came this morning to look at the bathroom to put a tub in)
....

Sam: mom where did the worker guy go?

Mom: I'm not sure maybe to the store to buy some things?

Sam: no I saw him over on that house. (He points to the Williams) and then a big cat came and licked me! Woah woah woah! And then the worker guy climbed on a ladder and I kicked him over the fence and I said get my tubby! And then the cat climbed the ladder.

Mom: wow Sam that's crazy.

11.9.13
Last Monday while teaching the first vision for family night I was reading Joseph smith history while Zach was acting it out for Sam. It came to the part when Zach was acting as god the father appearing to Joseph (Sam). Zach pointed to our picture of the savior on the wall and said "this is my beloved son, hear him" Sam then responded very earnestly and eagerly "I hear you!" It was adorable.

11.10.13
Last night Sam woke up crying and all he would say was "daddy! Daddy! Daddy ate my fox!"

11.15.13
Sam peacefully awoke from his nap and said "mom I went to a special garden. Mom where's that special garden at, I want to go back." He said he loved the people there.

Sam went to Eva's 5th birthday party today. It was fun to see him interact with all the kids. He is very well behaved and aware of the other kids. He is very observant. He likes to interact

11.19.13
While in the tub Sam said "it smells like dr. Voss" haha. Dr. Voss is his pediatrician. But I don't know that if I'd describe him as having a bathtub smell!

Sam came up to me and said "mom, you're a saint" a saint!? We never have taught him that word let alone do we ever say it? Who knows where that came from:)

11.22.13
Today there has been intense wind storms all day. I commented to Eva and Sam if they could hear the howling wind to which Sam replied, "yeah the wind is flying jesus all around outside" ha. I have no idea where that came from!

A few days back we got a package from nana and papa burton. It had some cute little clothes for Eliza and an awesome blanket for Sam! It has a hood attached to it that looks like batman, but Sam thinks it's a ninja! He puts it on his head and runs around like a ninja. He especially loves it because we told Sam that Zach is a master ninja! Ha. Sam was just blown away! Zach will run around doing "ninja moves" while Sam stands there stunned at what dad can do. It's adorable. So when this "ninja" blanket came same was pretty excited. We have some construction going on in the basement (we are remodeling) and one morning Sam put his blanket on and said "mom I'm going to go show the worker guys" he walked out the door and just stood in the hallway by them until they saw him and then he ran back to the room as quick as he could all embarrassed. Ha! When uncle kj was over Sam was bragging saying "kj my daddy's a master ninja!!!!" It's seriously so adorable ! And Zach does have some awesome ninja skills:)

11.23.13
I walked in the bathroom and found the following... Sam talking on his "phone" (an iPod Dock remote) while stirring my hairbrush in the toilet making "soup" for me. Oh dear! Silly boy.
We try and keep bathroom doors closed because Sam likes to see how fast he can unroll all the toilet paper off the cardboard roll. I often find a pile of all the tp on a heap on the floor. Bathrooms are just off limits now;)
This reminds me of when Sam was 15 months old he walked into the bathroom while I was folding laundry in the bedroom. I heard the door close and went to get him. Just as I got there he pulled out the cupboard drawers so I couldn't get in! I tried to reach my fingers through the door crack and slowly inch the 3 drawers back in but Sam kept slamming my fingers in the door! Ouch! He thought it funny. I sure didn't! I could not get in and was worried he could fall in the toilet which would be tragic. He also started pulling everything out from under the sink and clanking glass bottles on the floor! I thought to take the door off but the hinges were on the inside! He was just pleasantly playing with all the things we don't let him play with and he knew it! He them dumped my makeup bag contents into the toilet bowl splashed his hand around and then happily came closed the drawers! I opened the door and he just walked out happily saying "hi mom" as he passed by! My goodness he had me in a panic! He keeps us on our toes!

11.27.13
Sam, while sitting in his high chair eating, said "I'm so proud of you mom. " with a proud genuine smile. It was adorable. He then proceeded to tell me everyone else he is proud of.
Eliza is quite the charmer! Grammie says that she is so social. Sam, Eliza and I went with Grammie and Issy to the natural history museum yesterday and it was amazing. Eliza was sooo tired but didn't want to go to bed because she wanted to see what was going on and interact with everyone. She is adorable. She loves to be sitting upright to see what is going on. We love out little angel.

11.30.13
For thanksgiving we got to go up to a cabin in park city with the powers! It really was so wonderful! We were just thrilled to see them again so soon since they came for Eliza's blessing. The cabin had all of Geoff's family there so it was neat. We only missed Whitney and Chris and Colton otherwise everyone would be there! When we first got there everyone was hanging around talking. Sam just started dancing and galloping around. He ran up to Dodo and said "play your guitar for me!" Geoff picked up the guitar and played "go Sammy go! Go! Sammy be good!" Sam just danced and danced. Everyone laughed at how much energy he had! So fun! We had thanksgiving dinner that was delicious and then just spent time together.

October 2013

October 2013

"While feeding Eliza I heard Zach say while sleeping, "It's okay Sam someday someone nice will snatch you away and lead you to the kings of.... "  and then he trailed off. I have been laughing anytime I remember it.  9.27.13

My dad hired "victor and the boys" from canyon park to come do some yard work at the house. Sam watched them all day out the windows. When they left, Sam asked me "mom where's those polk a dot guys?" I was puzzled and he said "those brown Polk a dot guys?" Because they were Hispanic with brown skin, he tried to make sense of it by think they had a brown Polk a dot over their skin!

Sigago in the gongies. Sam was saying this while he was playing by himself in the bedroom. He often refers to sigago as a person as well as "noddy". I don't know if it's an imaginary friend thing or not?! 10.21.13

Sam recently runs around saying "Traladada " over and over. It's adorable. 10.23.13

With Geoff and melanie and the kids in town, we all got together at aunt Kim and uncle chads house for Monday night dinner. While at the house Sam had everyone laughing all night. He was running in endless circles around the middle loop of the house. The dog was following him. Sam ran with his tongue out and making fast car noises. His arms were tight and in place as he sped around. He went around at least twenty times if not way more. Everyone was just laughing at how funny he was. He also was speaking to everyone and hanging out with the teenage boy cousins telling them what to do. He just cracks us up. 10.21.13

Eliza's blessing was on Sunday the 20th. It was a wonderful day. The powers were all in town so we had them over for dinner and then the grand parents came over for the blessing and apple cake dessert. Zach opened the evening up by leading everyone in singing I am a child of god. The feeling that entered the room as we sang was marvelous. He then had Grammie pray and the me bear my testimony. It was very providential. I bore my testimony of Christ being our savior and sustainer. And that I believe that he can heal and overcome any trial obstacle or heart ache. I felt power in my witness and saw it carried into the hearts of those in attendance. I recall seeing grandma petersons eyes filled with tears of tender feelings. Love entered the room. As the men circled around Eliza you could feel such love and strength. Zachery blessed her with beautiful blessings of righteousness, to walk with The Lord, to live with strength and health. He is a devout father who loves his children dearly. Before the blessing Zach went into the bathroom and prayed for guidance and help in blessing his sweet daughter. We know god heard our prayer. 10.20.13

Sam calls flamingos "kamingos" I love it. It's so cute.
10.24.13

We have a monkey hand puppet that Sam likes me to do while he talks and interacts with the monkey. He wanted me to take the puppet off my hand so I could help him with another project. He said to me "mom, take your hand out of baby monkeys.....uh.... Bottom. ?!"

10.25.13
When Sam awoke from his nap he sat up and said "where's my pirate chomps!" He was frantically looking for whatever those are in his bed.  He took a nice long nap with mommy and Eliza all of us snuggled up. Grammie power is visiting and Sam is having lots of fun with her an Issy. He keeps looking for Calvin who is on a mission now. We dropped him off on Wednesday. Sam just adores the whole power family. We wish thy were closer. Not in Texas!
I heard Sam crying at the bottom of the stairs. I went to see what the matter was. He was awkward stuck in his pajama shirt trying to get out. He said "mom there's carrot soup all over my Jammie's! And ketchup! " carrot soup? We have never had that or talked about it and nothing was on his Jammie's. It made me laugh at the imagination of this boy;)

We were playing in the basement and Sam came to me and said " penny johns! Penny johns!!" He must be my child laughing at silly names.

Sam recently has been whippin out some hilarious dance moves. His movement is usually a gallop skip up down motion with his body stiff and his hands moving around. So awesome.

10.26.13
When trying to get Sam to eat his curry soup, he was clearly not wanting to have it. Being the logical problem solver that he is, he tells me "mom we can't eat that, it has snakes in it." He said it in such a grown up way like he was trying to be helpful. It was hilarious.

Lydia was trying on dresses for Halloween costume options and each time she would walk out he would say, "oh I love it! I love that dress Lydia" ;)

Sam and I went for a quick drive to get pumpkin bread.  He told me, "mommy, daddy is a prophet. " I was surprised cause I haven't really talked about prophets with him. I asked him what a prophet is and he said "he goes a preachin and does priesthood. " I have no idea where he got that from!

10.27.13
Late last night while we all were laying in bed with the candle glowing, trying to all fall asleep, especially Sam... Sam says "mommy I don't want to deficate"I kept asking "what?" Cause I could t understand and then finally Zach and I started laughing when we realized what he was saying. The only time Sam has heard that word was when Zach, about two months or more prior had been telling Sam to say something more appropriate instead of pee and poo. So Zach was saying urinate and deficate. It never flew with Sam. And then here we are months later when he randomly saying that! So funny and how did he remember that!

10.29.13
Sam picked up a nail and said "careful with this mom it might poke your schlaybop"

10.31.13
Well Sam did not want to dress up in his Peter Pan costume for Halloween which is funny cause he wants to where it everyday... Except for Halloween. Oh well. Everyone all night kept asking what he was dressed as? Let's see a two year old in a grey pea coat, a green winter hat... "Uh Sam" we said "go roll around it the gutter, then we can say that you're a little bum;)". Sam didn't get the humor.
Sam loved the hot chocolate that nana gives out on the corner by the roaring bonfire we build every year. He had endless cups. Which was okay cause he didn't really have any candy. The first trick or greater he saw was a skeleton, which he loves skeletons. It was earth shattering to him, in a good way, to see a real walking skeleton at his house! Then he saw a pirate, a ninja, etc. the night kept getting cooler! He acted like he owned the place calling out to the hundreds of trick or treaters "hey guys come get some hot chocolate! How are you? Get some hot chocolate!" He said this all in his "grown up voice " which makes it even more hilarious! Then when the people would leave he would yell "thanks guys! Thanks! Have a good night!" Oh for a two year old he was running the hot chocolate corner without any help! Oh it was so fun.
After the nights festivities Sam got the pumpkin card that umpa and kiwi sent him and he began telling me elaborate stories about the pumpkins, swords, a pot of water, and a cat. Somehow it all fit together! Anyway holidays are so fun because we realize how grateful we are for all the friends and family we have. We like to celebrate at any chance we get!

Little nugget is 8 months!

Well march first mister Sam turned 8 months old! Wow. We started feeding him some avocados, we will for sure post some pictures! He thought the whole situation was weird. It was so cute.
He is very opinionated. Na na was holding him in the backyard and he would swing and toss himself where he wanted to go if she didn't walk the " right" way, well things got pretty traumatic. We like his little personality. He has a heart of gold and hugs and kisses all who hold him that is if he wants to be held by them:)

Oh yeah and we bought a car. Our Jetta is dying. The clutch is almost dead. Bummer. But ! We found an old Honda odyssey that we love and the price was awesome for all the work the owner had put in to it! We bought it on my birthday and it was such a prize! We feel so grateful. We definitely know that we are being watched out for. So that kind of sums it up for us these days. Life is so good. Sam really brings us the most joy that has ever been experienced for us. It is so wonderful!

Our Little Gnome Family

So this was clear back in October, but I found the pictures and could not help but post them! Look how cute our little gnome selfs are! Especially little Sam Man! Zach and I are both quite opposed to Halloween, In fact Zach really hates it. All the yucky, scary, evil stuff is just not worth celebrating. Yet I have this aversion to LOVE holidays. I like to celebrate whatever I can, because it just makes life that much more fun! So when It comes to halloween my family always did a bonfire on the corner of our house where we would all sit and talk, while we passed out yummy hot chocolate to all the trick or treaters. It has always been a favorite activity of mine!
But down here in E-town we could not make it up for such festivities. Our ward was having a halloween party so we decided to go join the festivities. Zach said he would NOT dress up and celebrate such a holiday. Understood, yet I really wanted to do something fun! So, while he was at school I whipped up these gnome costumes. (my favorite was crocheting the beards!) When Zach came home he scraps of things here and there...He saw one of the hats and was kind of curious what I was making for our son. (I think he was secretly hoping that I made him a hat because I loved the color and really liked it! ha) Anyway I brought Sam out from the Sewing/craft/2nd bedroom all in his little gnome get up. Zach LOVED it! He loved it so much that he even WANTED to dress up in what I put together for him! Wow.
So we went to the ward party and guess what?? We WON the COSTUME CONTEST! Hahahaha. When we left the party Zach kept saying, "I can't believe that I did not want to dress up in the first place and then here I am carrying away the prize for the contest."
I would say it was a pretty fun holiday, for both of us not really liking the holiday in the first place.
Oh and by the way, Sam was quite the star. Everyone thought He was just the cutest little guy ever. And guess what? He is the cutest little guy ever!
So glad he will always be my little gnome!

Photo update part 2

Picture overload here we go!

You gotta love what a camera flash does to Sam! Look at those eyes! Not to mention look at his drooly shirt! He has been in the drool and eat everything for some time now!

We love face timing daddy before he comes home for dinner! Sam gets super excited when he sees Zach on the little phone screen. It is adorable! The FaceTime technology has actually come in handy quite a bit. Thanks apple! Sometimes Sam will cry for da da da but lights right up when he can see him on the phone. We have also been able to have family scripture over FaceTime when I go up to Orem for dr appointments and such. Super handy.

Photo catch up part 1 (7 months old!)

We have been up to quite a bit lately. Life is never ever boring with little people around! We have gone visiting to nana and papas where we played with cousins. I love the picture with Sam's little angel halo with flowers that cousin Eden insisted on him wearing! So funny! Sam gets a little overwhelmed sometimes with all the girls cousins who adore him! For instance Sam was taking a bath when Leila wanted to join. So in she came. He was a little hesitant but okay. Then in came Eva and Eden because what child wants to be left out of tubby time?! Once all the splashing fun began sam wanted out. And he wanted out immediately ! He is so determined and full of personality. I LOVE it as does his daddy! It has been so fun seeing Sam develop and grow. I don't ever want to forget all his little faces and how his little wiggly body feels. It is hard to remember life with out him !
And by the way the cool picture with Sam in a turban is brought to you by the fabulous aunt Lydia !

Baby Friends!

We recently had a wonderful night spent with some of our really great friends that we met at snow college. We had so much fun conversation and shared a few good laughs, ( and good tears). Oh it was rejuvenating. We laugh because we are all so very different in personality and taste but we share come ground on things we are interested and passionate about! It is great having them around especially all together!
We also all had babies close together and for the first time got them all together! It was exciting to see all their little personalities coming out. I have definitely decided that Sam is quite the social, exploring, opinionated little fellow. He is very animated!
We were do grateful we could spend some time with them all!
